ArtsDay is an annual opportunity for Angelenos to celebrate the contributions of arts and culture to the community and to talk with their elected officials about why the arts are important to us.
Now in its second year, ArtsDay unites artists, audiences, and arts organizations with the leaders who represent them in City Hall, fostering stronger relationships between those crafting the vision of LA’s future and those who make it a reality.
According to the California Participation Project, people who attend arts and culture events are five times more likely to vote than their neighbors. The Los Angeles Mayor’s Council on Innovation and Industry recently reveled our city has the second largest population of artists in the United States. Together, these facts suggest the arts—and the people who love them—can and should help chart the course of the next Los Angeles.
We use ArtsDay as an opportunity to highlight the contributions of the arts to all spheres of life, from education to business, public safety to health care, transportation to innovation. We thank our elected officials for their investments in arts and culture in their communities and ask them to keep their pledges to foster healthy, vibrant, and prosperous communities that include the arts.

Join Us at the City Council Meeting!
Arts for LA invites all residents of Los Angeles to join us for the April 17 City Council meeting in the John Ferraro City Council Chamber of Los Angeles City Hall. The meeting begins at 10:00 a.m.
Arts for LA has coordinated a group of speakers to address the council about the value, impact, and importance of arts, culture, and creativity to Los Angeles's identity as America's "Creative Capital." The City Council will present a special proclamation recognizing ArtsDay 2013.
The first 250 people who RSVP for the City Council meeting will receive a free ArtsDay2013 T-shirt with a design created by LA artist Andrew Colunga. When all 250 advocates present wear their ArtsDay shirts, the City Council will see a wonderful visual statement about the collaborative power of the arts!
Sign up to attend the meeting and let us know your t-shirt size by clicking here.
**Advanced registration has closed for ArtsDay, but you can still show up and join us at the meeting!
Thank Your Councilmember
We'll be inviting Los Angeles residents to contact their City Councilmembers to thank them for their ongoing support of arts and culture in the City of Los Angeles. These messages are so important in our ongoing work of establishing positive partnerships with our elected officials and to let them know we appreciate they've preserved support for the arts even when difficult funding decisions must be made.
