Production Title:'Etty Hillesum : A Voice Outside the Camp'
Production Description:Casting "Etty Hillesum: A Voice outside the Camp," a play for the 6th Annual Company Creation Festival by Son of Semele. Synopsis: Through precise, poetic movement, this surrealistic drama brings the diaries and letters of Etty Hillesum, a Jewish woman living in German-occupied Amsterdam, to life: the places, the journeys, the passions, and the horrors that inhabit the writings of this extraordinary young woman.
Coordinator states: "How do we succeed, in a single space and in limited time, in creating all of this? Through the imagination and through the poetry of her words. The image in action stems from the relationship with the objects, which change their meaning each time: a table that becomes a door, a lamp which becomes the flagship of the trip, a suitcase that becomes a train, departures and arrivals of other places, and papers that become memories."
Rehearsal and Production Dates & Locations: Approx. rehearsal dates include: Jan. 4-8; 11-15; 18-22; and 25-29 (morning or later evening); performs Jan. 30-31 and Feb. 10-12 (Wed.-Sat., 8 p.m.; Sun., 5 p.m.) at Son of Semele, 3301 Beverly Blvd., L.A
