Mark Ridley-Thomas won 61.5% of the votes in the highly contested race
for the 2nd district seat. His opponent Councilman Bernard Parks
received just 38.5% of the votes. Arts for LA congratulates
Supervisor-elect Ridley-Thomas and looks forward to working with his
team to strengthen the arts and culture in LA County.
Ridley-Thomas wil be sworn in at noon on December 1st. Parks will remain on the City Council where he chair's the Budget and Finance Committee.
The LA Times
reported that the the reopening King Hospital, which was closed in 2007
and consider increasing retirement benefits of public safety officers,
are on the top of Ridley-Thomas' priority list. The Times did not
report on his arts and cultural agenda.
