SUBMISSION BRIEF FOR OPEN CALL ENTRY
In its broadest sense, there are many beliefs and congregations in the Venice Beach area of Los Angeles. From gangs like V13 or the Shoreline Crips to Baptist & Methodist Churches to the endemic Workout Cultures to Vegans to Surfers to Homeless Charities, the list goes on. As a potential contributing artist we would like to get your unique insight on this theme. Any ‘belief’ or ‘congregation’ is relevant.
While the editors have chosen the theme and will happily discuss the kind of ideas that may work, we are keen to allow each artist to bring their own interpretation and subjectivity to their work.
The work we receive and choose to publish will be curated and organized into different ‘sections’ under the overall theme. Each section may feature a group or singular artist, depending on final layout and editorial decisions. Depending on subject matter and curatorial layout, we envisage each participating artist will be given between 5 and 10 pages in each issue. We reserve the right not to include work we don’t think is appropriate.
