Communications Specialist and Assistant to the Director of Marketing
Assists in the development and implementation of Los Angeles Modern Auctions’ (LAMA) marketing communications strategy. Works directly under the Director of Marketing and supports the management of LAMA’s image using a broad range of communication channels. Responsible for project management from beginning to end, including assessing scope of work, understanding project goals, developing timelines, and ensuring deadlines are met. The ideal incumbent will be creative, decisive, strategic, as well as highly collaborative.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists Director of Marketing in establishing goals and to ensure project deadlines are being met, and strategizes company message across a range of channels
Acts as lead copywriter on external communication initiatives, including, web, advertising, collateral materials and press releases
Coordinates advertising terms and contracts
Communicates regularly with marketing leadership to provide updates on projects, budgets, schedules and objectives
Develops content channels incorporating digital, web, editorial, and social media
Organizes analytics and tracks communication efforts
Supports business development team with producing presentation content
Optimizes content for SEO
Updates and organizes press contact information
Publishes and edits content through WordPress
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Four-year college degree in Marketing, Marketing Communications, Public Relations or related discipline plus a minimum of two years’ experience. Proficiency required in Microsoft Office, social media platforms and other software tools that enable successful completion of job-related duties, including graphic design and photo editing tools as well as web analytics. Must have high attention to detail and be comfortable with accelerated deadlines and last minute assignments. Able to provide quick turnaround on projects and react quickly to changing priorities. Able to handle competing priorities. Must be an effective team player with good organizational skills and excellent project implementation skills. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of current AP style standards. Must be able to assume personal ownership and accountability for projects, goals, and outcomes. Arts-related background is a major plus, but is not required.
