Connecting Art and the Common Core

You’re invited to participate in a FREE half-day professional development workshop for 3rd–8th grade teachers at the Hammer Museum at UCLA on Saturday, November 14 from 9:30 AM–12:15 PM. This workshop—organized by the Hammer Museum and the Visual and Performing Arts Education Program (VAPAE) in the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture — is part of a series called “Connecting Art and the Common Core.”
Participants in this workshop will:
- Discover how to use art to address Common Core literacy standards
- Practice using evidence-based reasoning to “read” portraits
- Gain techniques for enhancing observational drawing skills
- Learn about the Armand Hammer Collection
