CSUN Valley Performing Arts Center
Valley Performing Arts Center (VPAC) includes two venues, a 500-seat auditorium, and the new 1700- seat state of the art proscenium theater/concert hall. VPAC presents about 50 performances per year of world-class artists of all genres and disciplines. Located in the nation's second largest market, Los Angeles, VPAC operates at the highest level of professional and artistic excellence.
Under general supervision of the House Manager, the Events Manager serves as a key member of the Audience Services team, working closely with production, advancement and various other VPAC departments. The incumbent oversees all internal events for VPAC, such as: in-venue meetings, meals and receptions for external renters, pre- and post-show parties/receptions related to presented or copresented events, fundraising events, and gallery openings at VPAC, Plaza del Sol, as well as other locations managed by VPAC; works with all relevant VPAC departments and external vendors to ensure exemplary customer service and quality control for receptions, and meetings in all VPAC locations; serves as the main point of contact for all events with a hospitality focus through settlement phase; facilitating successful execution of events through communication, manage staffing and deployment of resources with all relevant parties; serves as swing for Front-of-House duties as needed; ensures the highest possible level of customer service for all partners and guests through effective communication, exemplary processes, project management, etc.; performs other duties as assigned.
- Equivalent to graduation from a college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field.
- Equivalent to three (3) years of full-time, progressively responsible technical, analytical, or performing arts experience. Additional experience in job-related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required education, on a year for year basis.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Working knowledge of general practices in Performing Arts, Production Services, Theatre or related fields and programs.
- Working knowledge of operational analysis, budgets, and techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of performing arts with an emphasis on customer service.
- Ability and specialized skills to expertly investigate and analyze problems with a broad administrative impact and implications.
- Ability to: supervise and/or train others and provide lead work direction; interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures to develop conclusions and make recommendations; compile, write and present reports related to program or administrative specialty; communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Act independently in completing any administrative functions within the audience service department; to provide immediate remedies to any issues that might arise.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
- The university offers an excellent benefits package.
- The salary range for this classification is: $3897 - $6326 per month.
- The anticipated hiring range: $3897 - $5200, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
- Hours: Full Time 40hrs/wk; will include evenings and weekends.
