Development & Marketing Manager – The Antaeus Theatre Company

The Antaeus Theatre Company is a cooperative theatre ensemble founded to 
empower the actor and to bring classical theatre to Southern California. The 
company exists to create a family of artists and audiences and is dedicated to 
exploring stories with enduring themes. Currently, Antaeus is undergoing a 
capital campaign to build a new home in Downtown Glendale set to open in 
September 2016. While half of the needed funds have been raised, the 
Development & Marketing Manager will play an integral role in the completion of 
this campaign. 

In addition, the Development & Marketing Manager is responsible for driving 
both the company’s short-term and long-term fundraising and marketing 
strategies. This position reports to the Executive Director and will interact with the 
Board of Directors and Company Members.

Primary Responsibilities:

Development:
 Create and execute Antaeus’ annual development plan to sustain and 
grow the donor base across all areas including, but not limited to 
Individuals, Foundations, Corporations, and Government funders. Analyze 
both quantitative and qualitative performance against this plan as needed.
 Manage an assigned portfolio of current and prospective donors through 
meetings, phone calls and other donor cultivation strategies.
 Serve as the staff liaison to the Board of Directors. Responsible for 
scheduling Board and Committee meetings, creating meeting packets, 
taking and disseminating minutes, updating Board manual, and providing 
materials as requested. 
 Oversees the Annual Fund including, but not limited to direct mail appeals, 
tax receipts, and acknowledgement letters. Ensures that all 
correspondence is accurate and sent in a timely manner. 
 Serves as the database administrator. Creates, tracks, and maintains 
donor records including pledges and contributions ensuring that pledges 
are up-to-date. 
 Create and manage a grant calendar that includes current and prospective 
funders. Write, assemble, and submit all applications and reporting 
materials in a timely manner, ensuring proper approvals have been 
secured.
 Oversees donor cultivation and stewardship events including the Annual 
Chairman’s Dinner, Opening Night Celebrations, Season Announcement 
Party, and other smaller donor events. Oversees creation and delivery of 
invitations, tracks RSVPs, and works with caterers and outside vendors. 

Marketing
 Create and execute Antaeus’ annual marketing plan in order to identify 
new audiences and keep current audiences in the loop. Analyze both 
quantitative and qualitative performance against this plan as needed.
 Produce a range of compelling print and digital collateral that highlights 
Antaeus’ productions, readings, and programming for current and 
prospective audiences and donors.
 Serve as the primary editorial voice for the Antaeus Company; write, edit, 
and ensure that there is consistent communication of the company’s 
image, brand, and position to external constituents. 
 Create, curate, and manage the digital and social content calendar. Stay 
on top of the latest social media trends and track features to help keep 
Antaeus current. Oversees all website updates to ensure that information 
is current and accurate.
 Oversee contractors including, but not limited to graphic designers, 
printers, and website developers.
 Develop a system for archiving photographs and Antaeus marketing 
collateral. Oversees approval process for all photographs in marketing 
materials. 
 Identify and manage paid and earned media including advertising. Work 
with publicist to ensure all media contacts receive accurate and timely 
materials.

Qualifications:
 1-2 years donor development experience required. 
 Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
 Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in the design and 
execution of marketing and communications activities.
 Literacy in the Microsoft Office suite, the Adobe Creative Suite, and basic 
HTML preferred. 
 Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize work and meet 
deadlines.
 Capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced organization.
 Enthusiasm for raising support for the theatre.
