MARKETING AND SOCIAL MEDIA ASSISTANT, REDCAT

REDCAT, the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater, seeks a part-time Marketing and Social Media Assistant for its flexible 180-270 seat performance space, 3,000 sq foot gallery space, and lounge located in downtown Los Angeles in the Walt Disney Concert Hall complex. REDCAT is an interdisciplinary arts center that presents influential artists who create contemporary works in the performing, visual and media arts. The theater features flexible seating configurations and a fluid performance space suitable for music, dance, theater, and film/video. This part-time (10 hours per week) position reports to the Marketing and Media Relations Manager and works closely with the marketing team and featured artists to ensure consistent, accurate and engaging digital communications via the website and social media, and to produce additional video content to promote the full calendar of performances, screenings, concerts, conversations and exhibitions.

REDCAT is an initiative of the California Institute of the Arts, which offers programs leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) and undergraduate and advanced certificates in art, critical studies, dance, film/video, music and theater.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 The Marketing and Social Media Assistant reports to the Marketing and Media Relations Manager. Responsibilities include: 

  • Assist with the production of electronic communications tools, including weekly email blasts, and creating dynamic online content for distribution, including promotional slideshows and video trailers;
  • Participate in content development for REDCAT’s online communities via Facebook, Twitter and others;
  • Collaborate on social media strategies, and implement electronic promotions to increase audience engagement;
  • Update online listings, researching relevant web-based outlets for promotion, and developing and expanding databases for event-driven marketing;
  • Basic maintenance and updating of REDCAT's web site content;
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated passion for contemporary performance, art and media;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Knowledge of internet protocols and experience with social media platforms, including Hootsuite, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, instagram, Soundcloud and others; as well as analytic programs such as Google Analytics, etc.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS, as well as basic video editing skills. Experience with Drupal, InDesign, Photoshop, and graphics software is a plus;
  • Interest in new technologies and willingness to learn and implement new computer-based applications and communication tools;
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with other individuals and departments to achieve institutional goals.
