PART-TIME BOOKKEEPING ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION

The Laguna Playhouse, a non-profit professional theater in Laguna Beach, California, is seeking a 
Bookkeeping Assistant.  This employee will report directly to the Controller and perform a range of 
administrative/accounting duties assisting the efficiency and controls in the Finance Department.   
Applicants should have accounting or administrative experience, a professional demeanor, and 
comfort working in a fast-paced environment. 

Position:  Bookkeeping Assistant
Reports to: Controller 
Position Status: Part-time Position
Schedule:  20/hours per week, flexible schedule

Position Responsibilities:

1. Reconcile and enter daily receipts of cash, checks and credit cards into the accounting system
2. Deposit cash and checks on weekly basis
3. Perform Accounts Payable functions
4. Reconcile company credit card receipts and expense reports
5. Organize and accurately maintain filing system of confidential information
6. Maintain office supplies inventory
7. Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting/or minimum 2 years of administrative and accounting experience
  • Data entry skills
  • Close attention to detail
  • Professional demeanor and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Microsoft Excel
  • Preferred familiarity with Tessitura ticketing software and MAS90 accounting software
