Gallery Media Coordinator (Regular Full-Time)With more than 120,000 objects dating from ancient times to the present, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is the largest art museum in the western United States. Reporting to the Manager of Gallery Media, the Gallery Media Coordinator supports planning and programming efforts of the institution with a primary focus on time based media installations for special exhibitions and permanent collection presentations. The Gallery Media Coordinator will be responsible for planning and execution of gallery media components of selected exhibition projects as assigned by the Manager of Gallery Media.
Some duties include: prepares media for exhibition; plans and specifies equipment for installation; designs and installs time based media in galleries; performs daily maintenance of time based media in temporary exhibitions and permanent collections; manages equipment inventory, maintenance, and storage; plans and executes the installation criteria of time based media with curatorial staff and contemporary artists; collaborates with other design staff and works closely with gallery construction, art preparation and installation, and exhibitions staff; supports various departmental initiatives, including Development, Security, and Education.
The qualified candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Film and Video Production, Digital Media, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, or related field, and two to four years of experience working in a museum or gallery setting. Audio and video editing, compositing, media encoding, graphic design, signage, multi-display software/systems skills are required.
