1301PE is looking for an exceptionally organized and motivated intern to join our Los Angeles gallery for a part-time internship beginning in mid-March 2016. All candidates should have an interest in contemporary art and a background in art history, fine art, or arts/office administration. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to complete tasks effectively and independently.
The intern will be an active member of the gallery and focus on administrative, archival and press-related activities. Tasks will include, but are not limited to, preparing and archiving press information, updating and editing artists CV’s, maintaining the image archive and inventory database, updating the website, managing the library, updating the mailing list and contact base, design email newsletters. There will also be the possibility to assist in the organization and installation of art exhibition. We are looking for candidates with a strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. Experience with ArtBase or Filemaker is a plus.
This position will provide excellent exposure to the inner-workings of the gallery business and is ideally suited for those interested in pursuing a career in the art world. Current students and recent graduates will be considered. Academic credit available. The internship will begin in mid-March and continues until June. The position will be one to two days a week from 10 AM – 6 PM, excluding Mondays and Fridays.
