DESCRIPTION

The Depart Foundation, which is a 501c3 non-profit space devoted to the arts, is looking for an intern to help with run its current exhibition while preparing for a new show opening in November 2017.

The foundation is looking for an intern who is passionate about the arts and enjoys engaging with the public on a daily basis. He or she should also be comfortable with retail and run the merchandise shop in the gallery.  

This internship will offer the chance to work closely with curators and artists alike, while learning the in-and-outs of a contemporary art space. 

ABOUT

The Depart Foundation is an alternative project space that offers a platform for creative experimentation and exploration, which includes contemporary exhibitions, lectures and screenings in Los Angeles and Rome. Its program includes serious monographic exhibitions of emerging and established contemporary artists, as well as group shows based on uncommon themes and/or artists. 

The gallery is currently housed in a 5,000 square-foot pop-up space based in Malibu Village, near Pepperdine University. Its current show, called "Sea Sick in Paradise" curated by Amy Yao, runs through October 30th.

QUALIFICATIONS

Extensive knowledge about contemporary art is helpful, but not required. Knowledge and expertise in social media, Adobe software, and photography will also be considered a plus. We would also prefer to have someone who lives on the the Westside if possible, although that is not mandatory. 

HOURS

At the moment we need someone who can work two days a week, from 12pm to 6 (or 7pm) (specific days will be determined by the schedule of all current interns). Interns are also required to help with side events (one time per month), as well as the installation of new exhibitions. 

COMPENSATION 

This position could also be a paid internship DOE. College credit is also negotiable.
