Question 1: Please share a meaningful experience you had with art (visual, dance, drama, music, media arts) while growing up and its impact on you.

I started playing clarinet when I was in Jr. High School. My hard work, practice, and constant participation allowed me to become a member of the USC Trojan Marching Band. I got a chance to travel the world, attend incredible football games and events, and to build long lasting friendships with many fellow musicians.

Question 2: What do you believe the role of City Council should be in developing and supporting the region’s arts and cultural infrastructure?

Our City Council can promote the arts and music by sponsoring art shows, concerts in the park, and other shows that get our community aware and involved with the Arts.

Question 3: What’s your vision for the city? What role, if any, does art and culture play in advancing that vision?

My vision is greatly improve public safety and infrastructure so that we can live our lives and enjoy and access our surroundings. Rancho Palos Verdes has many art and cultural venues such as the Pt. Vicente Interpretive Center, lower Hesse Park, and our Performing Arts Center among others. We should ensure that these remain available to all of our residents – young and old.

Question 4: A recent report by the Otis College of Design found that 1 in every 6 jobs in LA County supports the creative sector and economy in Los Angeles County. If elected, how will you aim to ensure the continued vitality and growth of the creative economy and the artistic community that it supports?

I am a business owner and will work hard to promote existing and new businesses in our city. Creativity is where America really shines, so it’s great to hear that 1 in 6 jobs are in the creative sector.

My wife of 24 years, Jennifer, attending Otis and finished her Art History degree at CSULB. It is her creativity that has been my everlasting inspiration.

Wonderful survey – thanks for letting me give my opinions.
