position purpose

We are seeking a skilled creative thinker to own the creation and maintenance of both our print and digital marketing assets as well as the content created to support the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra brand in the LA and national markets and ticket sale and fundraising goals of the Advancement team. From concept through execution, this candidate will improve our user experience by bringing our brand to life and keeping it consistent across all our various touch points. We are looking for a prolific and talented content creator to write and produce various types of social media, web, print and video assets to expand our company’s digital footprint, visibility, patron base and new leads. This role requires a high level of creativity, attention to detail, and project management skills.

scope & responsibilities

The marketing and digital engagement associate manages the creation, coordination and distribution of digital marketing assets that support the revenue and patron engagement goals of marketing and box office staff. The associate will manage and coordinate all online distribution channels, including the LACO website, email communication, social media profiles and presence, and additional channels that may be deemed relevant. The associate will also assist in design work and content organization for some printed materials including the program book, program inserts and concert signage as needed. In coordination with the advancement and marketing team, the marketing and digital engagement associate:

  • Creates and coordinates content for online and digital distribution to spread the Orchestra’s brand and messaging, and to build audience and engage patrons
  • Works alongside marketing, advancement and artistic colleagues to help distribute content that educates and entertains our audience and supports marketing goals
  • Maintains and updates the Orchestra website, optimizing for sales and fundraising needs, maintaining accurate and up-to-date information, and proactively scopes and presents new ideas to improve our website experience for users, ticket buyers and donors
  • Builds and manages the Orchestra’s blog and social media profiles and presence, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and additional channels as needed
  • Coordinates video and audio content to be used on LACO’s website and throughout social media platforms
  • Creates and manages various email campaigns, including the template designs, calls-to-action, and content used in our email sends
  • Grows our email subscriber and social media follower base by providing them with regular, helpful content that is aligned with their needs and interests
  • Drives consistent, relevant traffic from our social network to our website
  • Tracks, measures and analyzes all initiatives to report on website, email marketing and social media ROI
  • Designs and produces online ad content to meeting marketing and sales needs in conjunction with the senior marketing and sales associate and marketing team
  • Coordinates the production of the program book from content organizing and gathering through production, storage and distribution
  • Produces concert inserts, signage, posters and support print materials for marketing and box office as needed
  • Coordinates marketing-related receptions and provides support at evening and weekend concerts, receptions and events as assigned
  • Completes additional projects and tasks as assigned requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience
  • Prefer working in a collaborative, cross-team capacity. This role requires you to work across functions and departments to bring the product to life. You are at the center of our entire organization, constantly interacting with teammates
  • A dual-minded approach: You’re highly creative and an excellent writer but can also be process-driven, think scale, and rely on data to make decisions
  • Proficiency in content management systems. You will be expected to build concert and informative web pages, optimize the conversion paths on those pages, and use dynamic calls-to-action to create and test buyer stage-specific calls-to-action
  • Experience with design software, Adobe Creative Suite, in particular Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro or similar technologies, such as Final Cut Pro
  • Understanding of CRM systems and use (such as Salesforce, Tessitura or Blackbaud)
  • Experience with email marketing tools (such as PatronMail or Mail Chimp), marketing automation, and web analytics
  • Personal interest in staying up-to-date on the latest trends, including agile methodology and emerging best practices
  • Highly analytical and able to derive meaning from data through A/B testing and email optimization
  • Knowledge of Orchestral repertoire a plus, a passion for the arts a must
  • Some evening and weekend hours and overtime are required.
