Candidate Survey Project Webinar 9/6, 4 pm

Wed, 09/05/2012 - 12:03pm

Arts education supporters who want to help survey school board candidates this fall can log into a free training webinar hosted by California Alliance for Arts Education on September 6.

Candidate surveys prompt potential school board members to describe and explain their perspectives on the value of arts education.  The five-question survey looks at candidates’ individual experiences with the arts as well as their familiarity with their school district’s arts education plan, if one exists.

Arts for LA surveys candidates for school board, city council, and mayor annually throughout Los Angeles County.  In 2011, 120 candidates completed surveys for Arts for LA, representing thirty-seven districts.  Municipal candidates in Long Beach, Culver City, and Los Angeles’s Council District 15 also participated in an arts survey.

This year, as part of an ongoing partnership, Arts for LA will assist California Alliance for Arts Education in promoting the Candidate Survey Project, a statewide survey initiative, and will share Los Angeles County’s survey results on CAAE’s website.  Volunteers throughout the state help ensure surveys are completed by as many candidates as possible.

California Alliance for Art Education is a statewide arts education advocacy organization striving to ensure children throughout California have access to standards-based sequential arts education throughout school.
