Herb Alpert Foundation Announces Ambitious Challenge Grant for Arts for LA

Wed, 11/20/2013 - 1:44pm

The Herb Alpert Foundation announced it would double its end of year giving to Arts for LA this year if Arts for LA managed to complete an ambitious 2:1 match of money raised from our supporters.

Last year, the Herb Alpert Foundation came on board for our end of year annual campaign by offering a $2,500 gift if Arts for LA could raise a maching $2,500 from our supporters.  We met the challenge and exceeded our Annual Campaign goal through this generous support.  Forty-three percent of our donors last fall were first time givers!

The Herb Alpert Foundation indicated this year's challenge represented an increase in their commitment to arts advocacy activity in Los Angeles County.  Over the past year, Arts for LA's circle of supporters has grown exponentially, demonstrating that Angelenos are not only committed to arts, culture, and arts education, they are passionate about preserving and expanding it in the region.

Today marks the opening of our Annual Fund campaign period.  We invite you to give what you can—every gift helps and is matched 2:1 by the Herb Alpert Foundation, up to $5,000.  Your donations go to support activities like ArtsDay 2014, to be held in April at City Hall; an arts education summit bringing together school districts throughout Los Angeles County, and continued work on our Cultural Asset Map of Los Angeles County, currently in its pilot phase.
