Wed, 04/27/2011 (All day)

In a Los Angeles General Election on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, Bennett Keyser and Luis Sanchez face each other in a runoff election for the LAUSD School Board District 5 seat. Neither candidate achieved the fifty percent threshold in the March Primary to avoid a runoff: Sanchez received 48.5% of votes and Keyser receieved nearly 35%. Only residents who reside in LAUSD District 5 will vote in the run off (the sample ballot mailed to you will indicate what elections you will be voting in). District 5 encompasses the neighborhoods of Silverlake, Los Feliz, Mount Washington, Eagle Rock and El Sereno. To check if you are in the district please go here: Polling Place and Sample Ballot Lookup.

In February, Arts for LA released a survey of candidates running for local office. The survey provided an opportunity for candidates to articulate their awareness and support of arts & culture and arts education. To view the responses of Kayser and Sanchez, please click here.
