"Let the Voters Decide" Campaign in Claremont

Thu, 03/17/2011 (All day)

Those who live or work in the 29th State Senate and 59th State Assembly districts, including Claremont, San Dimas, Glendora and the foothills, are encouraged to contact their state representatives to put Governor Brown's tax extension measure on the June ballot.  Click here to send a letter and find out whether you're located in these districts.

State Assemblyman Tim Donnelly (CA 59) and State Senator Bob Huff (CA 29) are two of the few Republican representatives in Los Angeles County.  Governor Brown would need two Republican Assemblymembers and two Republican Senators to put the extensions on the ballot for a special June election.

The current state budget proposal includes billions of cuts to social services, including services for the developmentally disabled, welfare, early childhood health, mental health and in-home elder care.  Bringing the tax extensions to special election in June is the first step toward ensuring continuing funding for these and other essential programs statewide.
