SpaceFinderLA: Searchable Database of Creative Spaces

Fri, 04/15/2011 (All day)

SpaceFinderLA.orgThe Los Angeles County Arts Commission and LA Stage Alliance have partnered with Fractured Atlas to create SpaceFinderLA, a free online resource for the creative community and general public. Organizations and businesses with rentable space are encouraged to create a free profile on the site, which is the first online searchable database of creative spaces in L.A. County.

From the press release from the Los Angeles County Arts Commission: SpaceFinderLA can help you find spaces for rehearsals, performances, workshops, auditions, film/photo/video shoots, meetings, parties, showcases, etc., and generate income if you have spaces to rent.

SpaceFinderLA includes:

  • A fully searchable database with dozens of search options, sortable by discipline, size of venue, cost, physical features, equipment, location, floor type, and many other parameters.
  •  Venue profiles that include photos, custom descriptions, and other touches to give users the "feel" of a space.
  •  A mapping interface that shows the geographic distribution of search results and provides easy directions from one's current location.

The site is already up and running with more than 65 spaces registered as of April 11.

We are asking you to do the following:

  • If you have a space to rent, create your free SpaceFinderLA profile today.
  • There is no cost to venues or users to participate in the site. It takes under two minutes to build a basic profile. The more detail you include the more your space will show up in the search results for users. To create a profile, go to www.SpaceFinderLA.org and follow the "List your space" link in the upper right corner.
  • If you don't have a space to rent, forward this email to every venue that you use for your creative work. Nonprofit and for profit venues are both welcome to participate. With your participation, we will move toward our goal of listing at least 500 spaces by the time the site launches to the public.

Those with spaces to rent should not miss this timely opportunity to be a part of the inaugural launch of SpaceFinderLA. A major marketing campaign to launch SpaceFinderLA to the public will begin June 1, 2011.
