Perspective

As you well know, in times of budget crunches, the arts are often seen as "dessert" and the first to be cut. Your active participation in the next few months in communicating to our public officials that arts funding and arts education should not be disproportionately cut is crucial. Constituents carry a tremendous amount of weight with public officials. But if they don't hear from you, they won't think its important. So send a postcard to your city councilperson, assembly and senate representative thanking them for their support of the arts. The cost of the stamp is worth the investment.

Arts for LA leverages your voice through membership. Without an active, informed and mobilized voice, arts and culture in our region will continue to fall well below other metropolitan areas. Taking informed action is the number one way in which we ensure the arts and arts education do not bare the bunt of this most recent economic downturn.
