ProjectArt is the largest free arts school for youth in the US, without owning a single building. We
offer free, after-school visual arts classes to youth in the nation's public libraries taught by emerging
contemporary artists. Currently, our programs are offered in NYC, Detroit, Miami, Chicago, Pittsburgh
and Los Angeles. Our innovative teaching artist-in- residence model grants studio spaces in public
libraries to contemporary artists, who, in return, teach free art classes free to youth in low-income
communities.


Job Description


ProjectArt is hiring a part-time Los Angeles Program Director commencing summer 2018. The Los
Angeles Program Director will be ProjectArt’s key staff member in LA and primarily manage and lead
two things:


1. Cultivate our relationships with regional funders, partners, advisory council members and all
stakeholders
2. Facilitate ProjectArt’s programs in local libraries and offer support for artists, students, and
library partners.
3. Work closely with LA Executive Board Member, Advisory Council and ProjectArt Headquarters
staff on a frequent and regular basis in regards to all programming, funding opportunities,
partnerships and site visits.


ProjectArt operates on a yearlong basis in all cities, offering 30 weeks of programming over the course
of September to June. The Los Angeles Program Director works roughly 10-15 hours/week over that
duration excluding ProjectArt, library, and school holidays and closures. The Program Director must
be extremely familiar with and knowledgeable about the city and its people, have experience in
administration and managing many people, and a knowledge of and true interest in their city’s local
art scene and the contemporary art world at large. This position has the opportunity for growth.


Los Angeles Program Director Tasks


• Support LA Executive Board Member and LA Advisory Council members
• Hold cultivation events to expand our network and build support for ProjectArt
• Organize site visits as needed and in accordance with funders
• Hire, train and manage our Resident Artists
• Liaise with the Los Angels Public Library system and coordinate schedules of artists and
librarians
• Conduct outreach to spread the word about ProjectArt’s classes to grassroots communities,
with the goal of improving enrollment
• Collect payroll hours bi-weekly, report weekly to ProjectArt HQ
• Plan and execute student exhibitions and resident artist exhibition - source venue,
refreshments, incentives.
