Position #1: Program Manager – Los Angeles Area

Status: Full time, Salaried, Exempt, Temporary November 2015-June 2016 with potential for Permanent starting July 2016

Location: Office hours are based in Venice, CA. School-site locations vary. 20% school-based/ 80% office-based

Position #2: Program Manager – Los Angeles and Central California

Status: Part Time during training period of November 2015- December 2015. Full time January 2016-March 2016. Temporary, with potential for Permanent starting April of 2016.

Location: Office hours are based in Venice, CA. School-site locations are in the Los Angeles area and at our Central California locations. This position requires driving and some over night trips to Central California. 25% Los Angeles school-based/ 40% Central California school-based/ 35% office-based

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Manager is responsible for the implementation and ongoing management of P.S. ARTS Classroom Studio, Extended Learning, and Community Outreach program activities within the Los Angeles area. This position manages program logistics, including school site management, special projects and initiatives and programs-related communications for a portfolio of schools. The Program Manager supports progress toward the P.S. ARTS mission and the following strategic programs priorities:

1)    Ensure P.S. ARTS curriculum quality, impact, and accessibility.

2)    Recruit and retain high quality teaching faculty. 

3)    Contribute to a creative and effective learning environment in our partner schools.

4)    Actively participate in community building in and across our partner schools.

5)    Contribute to the development of P.S. ARTS and the arts education field overall, particularly with regard to improving underserved California public schools.

 In addition, the Program Manager communicates with faculty coaches to monitor faculty performance and provide appropriate support and professional development. The Program Manager takes a leadership role in the development, coordination, and implementation of P.S. ARTS Family Nights and other community arts events with his/her assigned area. The Program Manager advises programs team leadership on the development and success of program activities, and represents the interests of these partner schools/districts in P.S. ARTS programs team planning discussions.

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

I) PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION/COORDINATION

a) Contribute to programs team discussions and planning with regard to program design, short and long-range priorities, goals and evaluation.

b) Coordinate school-site logistics, including scheduling, processing partnership agreements and other essential documents, and monitoring program quality and efficiency.

c)  Serve as a first point of contact for partner school administrators with regard to program logistics and quality control.

d) Support Teaching Artists and school administrators in completing program evaluation protocols.

e)  Generate annual reports via survey monkey to summarize program quality in designated schools.

f)   Assist Chief Program Officer with grant applications and reports as requested.

g)  Provide support and leadership for special projects, task forces, or initiatives as determined by the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Program Officer.

 

II) FACULTY COORDINATION

a)  Provide guidance and support for Discipline Specialists with regard to curriculum resource development, coordinating site visits, coaching, and planning faculty trainings.

b) Conduct a minimum of two site visits per year and complete the P.S. ARTS Site Visit Evaluation Rubric.

c)  Share constructive feedback with Teaching Artists and collaborate with Teaching Artists and Discipline Specialists to determine best course of professional development and support.

d) Collaborate with Chief Program Officer and Chief Executive Officer to create performance improvement plans for faculty as needed.

e) Contribute to annual faculty performance reviews.

f)  Track Teaching Artist time sheets and sick days.

 

III) CURRICULUM COORDINATION

a)  Monitor curriculum documentation compliance.

b) Review all final curriculum approved by the Discipline Specialists.

c)  Disseminate course syllabi and link to P.S. ARTS public curriculum bank to school administration at the start of each academic semester.

d) Provide special project and classroom support as needed.

 

IV) COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATION

a)  Represent P.S. ARTS at arts education related convenings and events as determined by the Chief Program Officer.

b) Facilitate content development and logistic coordination of Family Arts Nights and other community outreach events.

c) Contribute to programs-related content for social media, newsletters, and all other P.S. ARTS-related publications as needed. 

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least 2 years of experience managing school-based programs or at least 5 years managing a staff of 5+.
  • Arts education experience desired
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred for Position #1: Program Manager- Los Angeles.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred for Position #2: Program Manager- Los Angeles and Central California.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, navigate competing priorities and deliver responsive client service
  • Enjoys relationship building and is comfortable working with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be computer and Microsoft Office Suite proficient
  • Possesses exemplary organization skills and time management
  • Must love arts and children!

Working Conditions. The Program Manager will:
• Perform work while seated at a desk for several hours at a time.
• Travel and attend meetings and events outside the office, which may require occasional use of a motor vehicle for transportation to other locations. Due to responsibilities requiring travel to locations not easily accessible by public transportation, driving is an essential job responsibility for this position. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
• Work in and outside of the office on some weekends, evenings and/or occasional extended workdays. Travel required for Position #2-Program Manager Los Angeles, Central California.
• Regularly lift up to 40lbs.
