Position Seeking: City Council

Question 1: Please share a meaningful experience you had with art (visual, dance, drama, music, media arts) while growing up and its impact on you.

From as far back as I can remember my Mom had incredible artistic talent and was always creating and working on some type of art project. She was an accomplished painter, having a knack for copying the Masters. She also created many beautiful stained glass windows, with each family member receiving their favorite, after her passing.Seeing the joy and excitement of the creation process and pride in the finished piece has been inspiring throughout my life.

Question 2: What do you believe the role of City Council should be in developing and supporting the region’s arts and cultural infrastructure?

The City Council's role in supporting the arts and cultural infrastructure is vital. From public support, through the Burbank Information outlets and other media, to additional public notices, it is important in making the Burbank citizens aware of exhibitions, art classes and art history.

Question 3: What’s your vision for the city? What role, if any, does art and culture play in advancing that vision?

My vision for the city is to make all efforts to retain the 'community' feel that Burbank has become known for throughout the region and is cherished by its citizens. Art, in all its forms, is as important aspect of the community feel and environment that we must maintain. Burbank needs to increase its efforts to foster interest and support of the arts.

Questions 4: A recent report by the Otis College of Design found that 1 in every 6 jobs in LA County supports the creative sector and economy in Los Angeles County. If elected, how will you aim to ensure the continued vitality and growth of the creative economy and the artistic community that it supports?
