Position Seeking: City Council
Question 1: Please share a meaningful experience you had with art (visual, dance, drama, music, media arts) while growing up and its impact on you.
Growing up, our family did not have a lot of finances and therefore, we were not always able to visit plays, dramas or musicals. However, we did visit the places that had little or no cost. Museums, college campuses, public events and school programs. These small ventures and exposure to the various arts were joyful experiences and gave an appreciation of what it represented.
Question 2: What do you believe the role of City Council should be in developing and supporting the region’s arts and cultural infrastructure?
Our role as a council would be to support arts and cultural organizations in presenting a diverse section of art and cultural exhibits and promote the diversity of their communities.
Question 3: What’s your vision for the city? What role, if any, does art and culture play in advancing that vision?
My vision is to assure that the city continues to thrive and progress both financially and in city growth. Art and culture can help promote this growth by show casing the various art and culture of the many different ethnic cultures that live in our city. Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese, Hawaiian, Hispanic, South American, Peruvian, African American, and so many more can be a great exhibit of art and cultural development.
Questions 4: A recent report by the Otis College of Design found that 1 in every 6 jobs in LA County supports the creative sector and economy in Los Angeles County. If elected, how will you aim to ensure the continued vitality and growth of the creative economy and the artistic community that it supports?
As a council member, I will promote cultural events that specifically allow the exhibition of ethnic life styles and traditions.
