Advocacy Works

Arts for LA applauds Michael Alexander, Nathan Birnabum, Sasha Anawalt, Cynthia Campoy Brophy, Jilly Carzenes, Michelle Mierz, Mark Seldis, Jan Williamson and Ayndrea Wilson for carving time out of their very busy day to spend almost an entire day at City Hall inside council chambers, advocating for the betterment of our field and the diverse communities we serve.

Arts for LA also applauds Mayor Villaraigosa, the Budget and Finance Committee, and the entire City Council for demonstrating their commitment to building a healthy department of cultural affairs.

On Thursday, May 1st ten members of the arts community provided public comment to the City of LA's Budget and Finance Committee. In a year of big budget cuts, Arts for LA felt is was especialy important to have a strong showing of support for DCA, its new leadership and the impending cultural master plan.
