New Report Calculates Pacific Standard Time's Economic Impact: $280 Million

Photo: LAEDC's Economic Impact Report CoverThe J. Paul Getty Trust released figures estimating the overall economic impact in Southern California of Pacific Standard Time to include $280.5 million while it supported 2,490 jobs and generated $19.4 million in state and local taxes.

Measure J Will Set LA County in Motion

This November, Los Angeles County voters will be asked to support Measure J, a much-needed investment in our transportation system that would start up seven transit projects and eight highway improvement projects within five years and complete them within fifteen, providing traffic relief along with 250,000 good jobs. Measure J is a remarkable opportunity to put the county back to work modernizing our transportation system. It does this not by raising taxes but by extending by another 30 years the half-cent transportation sales tax voters approved in 2008.

The National Endowment for the Arts recently released a study describing the impact of arts education on at-risk students.  According to the report, arts involvement contributes to an overall improvement life circumstances for at-risk youth, encouraging them to achieve academically, remain engaged in their community and pursue professional careers after college.
