Photo: student musicLos Angeles Unified School District officially released its plan to restore arts education throughout the district yesterday.  The “Arts Education and Creative Cultural Network Plan” will bring funding for arts education back to pre-recession levels by 2017.

Photo: John PérezThe California Arts Council announced last week it received $2 million in one-time funds from the 2013 State Assembly operating budget.  Assembly Speaker John Pérez made the allocation from his own discretionary fund. Pérez represents the 53rd Assembly District, covering much of Los Angeles (Boyle Heights, Downtown, Koreatown, Westlake)

Photo: LA District 6Arts advocates in LA’s District 6 are encouraged to vote on July 23 in the run-off race between former LAUSD Board Member Nury Martinez and former State Assemblymember Cindy Montañez.  

District 6 includes the neighborhoods of Lake Balboa and Panorama City and portions of Sun Valley, Arleta, North Hills East, and Van Nuys in the San Fernando Valley.
