Position Seeking: Councilmember

Question 1: Please share the most meaningful arts and cultural experience you had growing up. 

As a child, my parents would take me to the museums. The Hintington Library is one of my mother's favorite.

My father would buy me paint by nunbers. I loved these sets. 

Question 2: What do you think should be the role of City Council in the development and support of the region's arts and cultural infrastructure?

As a councilmember, I believe that our role is to support events in our community where the members of our community may participate in the arts. Whether it is painting or music and I our city we have been able to support a music festival and a mural activity. Mayor De La Riva and Councilmember Magana have played a key role in these events which I have supported.

Question 3: What’s your vision for the city? What role, if any, does art and culture play in achieving that vision?

Our city should be a place to raise families, which then means activities events focused around art and culture is crucial. 

As a Councilmember, my responsibility is to provide support for the vents and activities to be available in our community.

Questions 4: A recent report by the Otis College of Design found that 1 in every 7 jobs in LA County is supports the creative sector and economy in Los Angeles County. What strategies, if any, would you pursue to enhance the region’s creative economy (i.e. cultural tourism, indirect and direct jobs, nonprofit and for profit organizations)?

Communicating the number of opportunities for persons with an interest in the arts would be a start. The Music Festival and the mural activity are a start.
