18th Street Arts Center is seeking to hire a Development Manager (Full-time, Permanent) to join our team of arts professionals. The Development Manager is a highly visible development position for an individual with a passion for developing and leading individual giving fundraising strategies.. The Development Manager will work in partnership with the Executive Director to bolster existing individual fundraising efforts while imagining and implementing new strategies to attract new individual donors. The Development Manager works collaboratively with our Deputy Director to ensure that our donor-facing storytelling reflects our high quality programs and encourages giving to support the organization’s mission and vision. The ideal candidate will have experience with securing individual gifts at the small and mid sized levels.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

1. Works with Executive Director, program staff, development staff and board to identify and develop funding strategies to underwrite 18SAC programs.

2. Works in partnership with the Programming team to ensure that programs are conveyed in a fresh and centered way in individual donor stewardship strategies.

3. Works with the Program staff to ensure that they are actively engaged in development strategies and activities.

4. Helps develop shared understanding of internal fundraising strategies between program staff and development staff.

5. Manages and improves donor data and reporting using our CRM (NationBuilder)

6. Works to integrate Patreon donor data and transactions histories gathered from our Borderless program into NationBuilder.

7. Executing regular reports to deepen analysis on past and current giving, to inform future strategies for fundraising.

8. Assisting the ED in developing board related fundraising materials.

9. Forecasting an annual fundraising budget (with the Executive Director), and then managing expenses to the approved budget.

10. Oversees the donor acknowledgment program, with an eye towards improving the process.

11. Organize and implement small in-person donor cultivation events to deepen relationships with prospective donors.

 

OPERATIONAL DUTIES

1. Fosters good internal staff communications. Supports and coaches their direct reports in their professional development.

2. Ensures that job responsibilities are clearly communicated and duties delegated to their direct reports and program staff where appropriate.

3. Serves as liaison to leadership for internal policy issues involving development staff.

4. Ensures and supports the implementation of internal development policies among the staff.

5. Attends Board Committee meetings where appropriate and guides and supports Board driven cultivation and fundraising efforts.

 

Successful candidates will have 3 years experience working in a non-profit development context using their excellent fundraising, organizational, data management, supervisory, project management, and strategy skills.

Experience working on endowment and/or capital campaigns would be a plus. They have proven superior customer service skills with internal and external audiences. They embrace the power of teamwork as a leader and in a supporting capacity; they foster a healthy, balanced work culture and understand sustainable business practices. Current software requirements: CRM or database software fluency (ideally NationBuilder),Google Business Suite, Smartsheet or similar project management software. basic understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics fluency, Eventbrite, fluency with social media marketing and insights (Facebook Ads, Google Display Ads, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube) are a plus.
