Job Summary
The Getty Conservation Institute (GCI) is looking for assistance in day-to-day administrative and clerical tasks to support AATA Online (Art and Archaeology Technical Abstracts Online), an indexing and abstracting database (aata.getty.edu).
Major Job Responsibilities
Working under direct supervision, duties will entail utilizing a variety of online and print sources to create records in the AATA production system. The types of records include analytics for original and published abstracts with accompanying bibliographic information, new authorities for authors and corporate bodies, and parent records for journals, series, and monographic titles. Responsibilities will include data entry, scanning articles, photocopying, reformatting analog materials to digital, minor editing of new records, data analysis for record cleanup, and conducting various other organizational, administrative, and clerical tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate course work in art history, library sciences, or related discipline. Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
- 0-2 years related experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ideal candidates should be very detail oriented, proficient with MS Office Suite, and experienced at scanning and converting text documents into electronic files. Library cataloging experience strongly preferred.
