Artist-mentors assist the Teaching Artist in youth media arts workshops for ages 10–18. The ideal artist-mentor has experience in photography, filmmaking, or visual art. Experience teaching or working with youth is preferred but not required. This is a great way to gain teaching experience and inspire young people to hone their craft.
WORKSHOP STRUCTURE Our summer program runs Monday through Friday from July 1st through July 26th (with break on July 4th). Workshops meet once a day for 3 hours. You can volunteer in either the morning or afternoon sessions. Workshops are taught by a team of artists comprised of a Lead Artist with background and experience in education, who works collaboratively with volunteer artist-mentors. With classes of 8–12 students, our goal is to provide a teaching and mentoring ratio of no higher than 1:4.
HOW TO APPLY:
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org ("Artist Mentor Internship" in the subject line) to request an application. We hope to select interns in May so please contact us ASAP if you are interested.
