DESCRIPTION
The Gabriella Foundation's (TGF) Mission is to transform the lives of underserved youth in Los Angeles through high-quality dance education. Our dance program, everybody dance!, provides year-round, high-quality, sequential dance school-day and after-school instruction for 3,750 children and youth ages 4 to 19. http://www.everybodydance.org
The Arts Education Intern will act as a second hand to the Artistic Director and Program & Operations Coordinator throughout the 10-week internship. They will engage in the planning, producing and directing of the SummerDance arts education program. They will also support event planning for our yearly Gala and Recital weekend.
This internship is sponsored by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and is subject to its rules, timelines, and approval. The earliest that interns can start their 2018 internships is Monday, June 4, and the latest is Monday, June 18. Interns must work ten consecutive weeks between June and August 2018.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ideally, the applicant will have some experience with visual arts and crafts, some dance knowledge and be enthusiastic, energetic, and dependable. The intern must have leadership qualities, good communication and organizational skills, and be a team player. Previous experience working with youth is mandatory. Also useful is an understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel. Bi-lingual Spanish speakers strongly encouraged to apply.
ELIGIBILITY
2018 Arts Internship positions will be open to currently enrolled undergraduate (2 or 4-year) college students who reside or attend college in Los Angeles County. Students must have completed at least one semester of college by June 1, 2018, or will complete their undergraduate degree between May 1 – September 1, 2018 in order to participate. This internship is sponsored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. 179 undergraduate interns will participate in the program this year at 127 performing, presenting, and literary nonprofit arts organizations and municipal arts agencies throughout LA County. In addition to their full-time 10 week paid internship, interns will participate in educational events as part of the program, which is funded by the Getty Foundation. The educational events are designed to provide interns with a broader perspective of the vibrant arts and cultural landscape of the County.
