Celebrating our 30th anniversary as a high-impact arts education organization, artworxLA re-engages students through the arts and provides a creative pathway to a future beyond high school graduation. We combat the high school dropout rate in LA County by providing long-term sequential arts programming across 30 alternative high schools. We cultivate and maintain effective partnerships with artists, educators, cultural centers, community organizations and every major cultural institution in Los Angeles to amplify our collective impact and the voices of over 750 students we serve each year.

About the Development Manager position
Reporting to the Director of Development and Communications, artworxLA seeks a Development Manager to manage all of the organization’s fundraising efforts, to oversee the Development and Communications Coordinator and to work in the following areas:

Annual Fund
• Responsible for creating fundraising strategy and leading campaign to raise $100K
• Lead the phone banking efforts
• Generate target audience and strategy (via mail list, email list and social media)
• Oversee design/printing/distribution of all collateral materials (mailers, thank you letters, socials)
• Log all income

• Responsible for creating fundraising strategy and leading campaign to raise $250K through artworxLA's Annual Gala
o identify, cultivate and secure sponsorships/donations from individuals and corporations
o lead the planning and production efforts
o manage the venue (site, catering, tech)
o oversee design/printing/distribution of all collateral materials (mailers, thank you letters, socials)
o coordinate stewardship
o produce Program Book with sponsor/donor ads, credits, student artworks and program
• Responsible for creating fundraising strategies for Virtual, In-Person and Hybrid events (4 per year) to raise $40K
• Responsible for creating a recurring individual donor program to raise $20K
• Log income for all fundraising campaigns and events

Grant Applications and Reports
• Support the preparation of all government and foundation grant applications, reports and invoices (approximately 60 applications are submitted annually)

Administrative Responsibilities
• Supervise Development and Communications Coordinator, as well as interns
• Review org budget to track fundraising goals on a monthly basis and write monthly report
• Oversee Communications & Social Media to reflect all fundraising efforts
• Oversee the logging and tracking of income and contacts from foundations, corporations and individuals onto Salesforce
• Oversee the cultivation and deepening of new and existing relationships with Los Angeles arts/creative communities, including artists, galleries, creative-based corporations, neighborhood businesses, collectors and donors to advocate and to seek support for artworxLA’s programs
• Responsible for monitoring and implementing new fundraising techniques and applications

• BA in Art, Communication, Journalism, Marketing or related fields
• 5+ years of development, fundraising and communications experience, ideally with an arts or education organization
• Excellent writing/verbal communication skills
• Ability to self-sufficiently balance multiple projects, meet deadlines and work as part of a team
• Proficiency with Google Suite, Adobe Creative, Microsoft Office and CRM platforms (Salesforce a plus, Raiser’s Edge and/or PatronManager)
• Experience or interest in event planning a plus
• Experience or interest in the arts a plus

Terms of Employment
Full-time, non-exempt position, 40 hours/week with a salary of $65,000 - $70,000 a year. Health and retirement benefits. Candidates must be available Monday–Friday from 10:00am – 6:00pm, and some nights and weekends. Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, following all current LA County and LAUSD COVID-19 health requirements - currently this position is partially remote.
