Director of Staging
JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of the Associate, Staging is to serve as a project manager and designer on the company’s staging team. He/she is responsible for site surveying, space planning design concept development, furniture selection, art planning, sourcing, buying, warehouse coordination, installation oversight, general project management, and post-approval client communication.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- meet with Director of Staging on a regular basis to obtain new projects, track existing projects, and close out completed projects
- conduct site surveys to assess new projects and obtain as-built measurements, photographic documentation, access information and instructions, and overall understanding of the space at hand
- transfer and trace PDF plans into AutoCAD (or work with existing AutoCAD drawings, if available)
- produce furniture, art, and accessory plans based on guidelines set for by Director of Staging
- select initial proposed pieces either from the company’s warehouse, or via new purchases, for furniture, art, and accessory selection
- select paint colors and produce paint schedules
- compile all design documentation in a concise design concept for each project
- assign and oversee internal company painters for any custom commissioned paintwork, either on canvas, or in situ (murals, etc.)
- liaise with window treatment vendor and custom rug / textile vendors as needed for design execution
- liaise with and oversee third party contractor work as needed including but not limited to painting, electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, etc.
- shop online and in person for items to be used in the design of projects
- purchase items for projects and follow company ordering guidelines
- coordinate with the Junior Associate, Warehouse for day-to-day project management and receivables / deliveries
- oversee the installation under the direction of the Director of Staging, working directly with the Associate, Installation
- manage project budgets closely and carefully
- manage project timelines and make any necessary updates and/or changes in order to stay on assigned timeline
- use the company’s proprietary software for inventory and project management
- communicate directly with the client after design concept is approved to bring project and installation and any post-installation feedback to fruition
- respond to and execute internal feedback as provided by the Director of Staging
- respond to and execute external feedback as provided by Clients
- attend weekly design meetings with the Director of Staging and other design team members
- travel to and from project sites as needed
- assist with installation styling and general moving as needed
