Senate Approves Coburn Amendment - Cuts Arts Out of Stimulus Package

AFTAYesterday, the Senate approved the Coburn Amendment, offered by Sen. Tom. Coburn (R-OK) that prohibits funding for ".... museums, theaters and arts centers..." Approved by a vote of 73-24, if included in the final version of this legislation, would prevent the economic recovery supporting these areas of the non-profit arts community.

Take Action! Americans for the Arts has launched a nationwide action alert for constituents to contact their senators and voice approval, or disapproval on their vote.

Take Action! Americas for the Arts is also urging folks to contact local media outlets voicing support for including the arts in the national recovery effort.
