Highway 2 -the journey and the destination is a multi-media, multi-artist show illustrating the experience of the Angeles National Forest and the Angeles Crest Highway. The show has been invited to the La Canada Flintridge Public Library for the month of March 2019 and new works and artists are being sought for this month-long show. The show seeks to explore the breadth and immense diversity of forest uses and users, from those whose love affair is with the highway to those who maintain traditional ties to the land and its flora and fauna. Drawing, painting, photography, fiber art including basketry, cloth and other mediums welcome.
Subject matter can include but is not limited to landscapes, flora and fauna studies, car and motorcycle art, lifestyle art, time lapse photography, traditional and contemporary painting/drawing/ sketching/photographic styles. Veteran artists and first-time exhibitors are welcome. This show is an excellent opportunity for new and emerging artists to show in a gallery setting alongside accomplished, amazing veteran artists. The Highway 2 show originated as a means of navigating across the the wide variety of forest users and finding common ground in our love of the forest; and to provide an opportunity for emerging artists to show their work in a gallery setting in a supportive, drama-free atmosphere. There is no fee to enter or exhibit.
The show is hosted by Redbird, a Native American and environmental non profit association with a land base in the Angeles National Forest. Redbird is seeking submission samples via email; the show hangs on March 1. Works must be framed, with a wire hanger, and delivered to the library on March 1 between 11 AM and 1 PM. Three dimensional and fiber works should be wired for hanging. For more information or to submit work samples please email [email protected] with "Highway 2" in the title of the email.
