San Diego Art Institute is a contemporary art center focusing on work from the Southern California/Baja region. For the past 75 years, San Diego Art Institute has hosted a “Southern California/Baja Biennial”. San Diego Art Institute invites artists to submit work for the upcoming biennial, opening to the public on December 10, 2016 and running through January 31, 2017.

Artists of all media are welcome including but not limited to: painting, photography, sculpture, collage, installation, video, sound, and performance works. The juror selecting work for the exhibition is Anthony Graham. Anthony Graham is Assistant Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. Prior to joining MCASD, he worked at the Storefront for Art and Architecture, New York and as a research assistant at the Buell Center for the Study of American Architecture and the Office of Publications at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. Since joining the Museum, Graham has curated multiple exhibitions drawing from the permanent collection, including Holdings: Selections from MCASD’s Collection, in addition to helping organize special exhibitions San Diego Collects and Ed Ruscha: Then & Now. He received his master’s degree from Columbia University and holds a BA from the University of San Diego.

Cost: $10 per image (no limit)

Deadline: 5pm, Monday, October 31st

Images must be 5MB or less each. Please also submit a current CV, artist statement, and link to your website with your submission.

All participating artists must reside in the Southern California/Baja Norte region.
