Port of San Diego’s Waterfront Art & Activation Department
San Diego, CA
The Port of San Diego’s Waterfront Arts & Activation department seeks statements of qualifications from professional California and Baja California Artists for the upcoming public art installation series, Port Spaces. Selected Artists/Artist teams will contract directly with the Port of San Diego to create temporary, pop-up, site-specific artworks that focus on creative placemaking and interactive community. Individual artwork budgets and locations will vary. Selected Artists/Artist teams will work with Port staff to outline projects that embrace art as experience and experimental public engagement.
Applicants must reside in San Diego County, Orange County, Los Angeles County, or Baja California, and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. This program seeks to engage artists working in a multitude of media, including film and video, performance, installation, sculpture, sound, painting, drawing, and more. Artists who submit should be comfortable working with the public; and public interaction should be a strong element of their artistic practice. Incomplete or incorrectly formatted applications will not be reviewed by the selection panel.
The Port is not responsible for submittals that are not screened due to technical or other issues.
Application opens: Friday June 15, 2018
