Call for Artists: Sunny Art Prize 2019

Sunny Art Centre

International

The Prize
The Sunny Art Prize is the first program outside of museological institutions and programs designed for artists that envisions the decentralisation of the art world as a way to broaden the horizons of both artists and the communities they engage with. It is a yearly art competition in the UK organised by the Sunny Art Centre with a selection of thirty artists who will take part in international activities, including exhibitions and a residency.

One of the most inclusive and diverse open submission prizes in London, the Sunny Art Prize offers unique exposure for both emerging and established artists to an audience spanning two continents. Created around the Sunny Art Centre’s unparalleled links between London, Beijing, Guangzhou and Macau, the prize winners will not only enjoy a month-long residency in China, but also the opportunity to exhibit both in our central London gallery and in prestigious galleries in China. A £6,000 total cash prize will be split between the first three winning artists.

WHO CAN SUBMIT
You can submit artworks that fall under the categories of sculpture, painting, drawing, original print, photography, ceramic, mixed media, installation, video art and/or moving image, digital art (including physical work which is computer generated, e.g. digital prints).

WHAT DO WE LOOK FOR WHEN REVIEWING SUBMISSIONS?

We want artists to engage with real contemporary issues. Winners of previous editions did so with powerful statements that could be read from their work.

Check the complete catalogue with all the participating artists included in the 2018 edition and find out more about the stories they engaged with. Explore the work of a group of international artists aiming to raise awareness of themes including climate change, the current international debate regarding immigration and refugees, our perception of identity, and much more.
