Call to Artists:
GRoW @ The Wallis is pleased to offer a unique opportunity for creative teams developing new musicals to receive intensive coaching to take a project they have started to the next level. The program is intended for emerging artists who have not yet had their work produced in a professional setting. The coaching sessions will take place at The Wallis Tuesday evenings from 7:30 – 9:30pm from September, 2017 – March, 2018. One team will attend each week and receive personalized coaching to further develop their show. In between their coaching sessions, the creative teams will be expected to continue to refine their work. Several actors will be selected to perform the new musicals and assist in the development process. This may include table reads, scene work in class, and a staged reading at The Wallis for selected portions of each show. Legendary Broadway composer Stephen Schwartz will be invited to visit the class and provide feedback for each of the shows in development. A showcase performance of portions of each show will be presented in the Lovelace Studio Theater.
HOW TO APPLY
To be considered, creative teams of two or three people should submit a proposed project including musical composition(s), lyrics, and a book or story outline. Three teams will be selected for the program. Selection will be based on the potential demonstrated in the work they submit and the extent to which the participants would most benefit from this opportunity.
