Arts Bridging the Gap
Los Angeles, CA
Arts Bridging the Gap is working with The City of Los Angeles, LAPD and a number of schools/after school programs to create a road map of art pieces across the 15 districts. We are seeking expressions of interest from Sculptors and muralists to join us on this project.
Each artist works with a group of children and police officers to design an art piece that is then created with the help of the children and officers.
The children and police officers will be completing an empathy curriculum during the art making process - artists are invited to attend but it is not an expectation.
All pieces will exist in public areas of Los Angeles for a minimum of two years.
We ask that artist be excited about working with children and LAPD officers and willing to work with both groups to design and create the final piece.
SUBMISSION DATE: Immediately and ongoing. We are in particular need of sculptors currently.
LOCATION: Varies - across all 15 LA City districts. We encourage artists to specify which district they would like to work in and to mention which district they live in - if applicable (living in LA City is not a prerequisite)
There is an artist stipend available for each piece (to be discussed with each artist in reference to the varying scope of pieces) but we ask that artists be mindful that this is a community engagement, non profit art project when discussing their fee.
All materials and expenses are covered.
