Mayor Garcetti welcomed over one hundred arts and culture leaders from the Los Angeles area to City Hall today to give him advice, insight, and feedback on how the city should invest and support arts and culture in the coming years.

Arts for LA thanks Olga Garay-English for her unwavering service to the Los Angeles’s arts and culture sector and congratulates her as she takes the next step in her career. Today is Ms. Garay-English’s last day as the executive director of the Department of Cultural Affairs.

Olga Garay-English announced today she will be stepping down from her post as executive director of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs effective January 4, 2014.  Arts for LA thanks Ms. Garay-English for her unwavering service to the city’s arts and culture sector and congratulates her as she takes the next step in her career.

Last week, Los Angeles's City Council adopted the Mayor's proposed budget after extensive budget committee hearings with department heads to better understand the implications of the Mayor's funding proposals.  As previously reported, the budget included an incremental increase in funding to the Department of Cultural Affairs, the City of Los Angeles's primary grantor for arts and cult

The good news is voter turnout increased over March's Primary Election in Los Angeles, but the real news is voter turnout didn't rise much above the historic low in the nation's second largest city.

Residents of the City of Los Angeles voted yesterday, closing seven races where a single candidate received a majority of the vote, while seven other races will move the two top candidate to the May 21 General Municipal Election.
