LA City Council Approves Plan for Mural Program Support
The Los Angeles City Council approved a plan to fund mural preservation, creation, and restoration throughout the city this morning. All Councilmembers present voted to approve the funding, which will be coordinated through the Department of Cultural Affairs.

Last October, the City Council adopted an ordinance to allow the creation of new original art murals – one-of-a-kind, hand-painted, hand-tiled or digitally printed images on a building exterior that does not contain a commercial message and the preservation of existing vintage art murals on private property. The ordinance prohibited murals on single-family residences.
