On April 30, Arts for LA’s Executive Director Danielle Brazell issued a letter to the Honorable Mr. Paul Krekorian, chair of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Los Angeles City Council.  The full text of the letter follows.  Arts for LA will continue to monitor the city's budget process and update our advocates on its status whenever possible.

The Los Angeles City Council moved one step closer to passing an official resolution in support of AB 580, the California Assembly bill that would fund the California Arts Council with $75 million dollars for the next fiscal year.

On Wednesday, Arts for LA sent a statement to Councilmember Paul Krekorian expressing support for Mayor Villaraigosa's proposed budget for the next fiscal year, which runs July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2014.  Krekorian serves as chairman on the Budget and Finance Committee of the Los Angeles City Council and will oversee the process of soliciting comment and providing feedback on the budget before the City Council vot

AB 580, a bill introduced by Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian to fund the California Arts Council with $75 million annually, has passed through the Assembly Committee on Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism and Media, an important step toward a vote on the floor of the Assembly.
