JOB SUMMARY

Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA), the leading auction house on the West Coast for modern and
contemporary fine art and design, is seeking a full-time Cataloguer to work in the Specialist Department. The
Cataloguer will review potential auction consignments and efficiently research the property in a timely manner
to determine if the works represent our brand and establish an auction estimate. The position will also research
and fully catalogue consigned auction property.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review incoming material from clients and efficiently research the works and establish an auction
• estimate.
• Fully catalogue the property for the auction text.
• Inspect incoming property, make note of edition, dimensions, date, title, markings, medium, labels.
• Research third-party authentication with various foundations, committees, etc.
• Work with specialists on writing and editing text for the printed auction catalogue.
• Assist specialists with creating proposals or evaluations.
• Prepare preliminary condition reports for incoming property.
• Maintain correspondence between specialists and Consignor Services department.
• Maintain Specialist Department calendar for incoming and out of office appointments.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum two years of full-time experience in a cataloguer or registrar position.
• Auction company or arts-related experience is required.
• Acute attention to detail.
• Effectively multitask to ensure projects are realized from start to finish under deadlines.
• Adaptability to changing and competing priorities.
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
• Excellent organizational and project implementation skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess personal ownership and accountability for projects, goals, and outcomes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office is necessary.
• Knowledge of FileMaker Pro is an advantage.

The position's compensation is at the rate of $17.50/hour.
