Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effective communication across project teams including government stakeholders, architects, construction companies, landscape firms, fabrication teams, and many other industries.

  • Methodical and appropriate attention to detail during administrative and artistic review; including schedule, material choices, budget, engineering, and fabrication methodologies; and

  • Innovation and creativity alongside a solution-orientated approach.


As Commissions Manager, you will 


  • Manage between 10 and 20 commissioned artists through design development, engineering, fabrication, and installation of commissioned public artworks;

  • Coordinate and communicate with project teams including design-build, project owners, artwork fabricators and engineers, and artists, and Dyson & Womack staff;

  • Manage all commission schedules ensuring artists stay on track and keeping all team members up to date on any adjustments to schedule;

  • Track artist budgets and manage pay applications;

  • Conduct site visits to artist studio’s, construction sites, and artwork fabricators as needed to check work progress;

  • Review engineer reports shop drawings, lighting plans, architects and civil drawings as necessary looking for any potential issues with artwork integration and flagging as necessary; 

  • Maintain project files across Dyson & Womack platforms including Smartsheet, Bluebeam, Basecamp, and Google Drive;

  • Implement internal project reporting tools to ensure all relevant Dyson & Womack staff are updated on commission progress;

  • Coordinate with artists for photoshoots of artworks in progress and once completed; and

  • Ensure successful completion of all commissioned artworks as measured by an on-time, on-budget, and goal-based delivery.


To take this position, you will have


  • 3-5 years employed at a professional level in project management in the architecture, construction, or public art production fields at a minimum.

  • Advanced knowledge of Bluebeam; 

  • Working knowledge of LEED status requirements;

  • The ability to read and interpret engineer, shop, civil, landscape, and architectural drawings; and

  • Led projects with budgets exceeding 1 million dollars.

Light travel (in and out of state)


Full-time, exempt position with a competitive and negotiable salary based on prior experience.



Holidays, paid vacation and sick leave provided after the probationary period. All employees are offered a healthcare stipend negotiable upon contracting.
