The Los Angeles Music and Art School(LAMusArt) was founded in 1945 to provide youth in the community of Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles with safe and engaging arts programs during unsupervised after-school hours. Since its inception, its mission has been to provide equitable access to year-round, multidisciplinary, and after-school artistic programs for under-resourced students living in the community of East Los Angeles. POSITION SUMMARYThe Communications and Development Assistant is an hourly position that supportsLAMusArt’scommunications and outreach efforts, including the development and coordination of content, materials, and programs to engage and grow LAMusArt’s supporters. Asuccessful applicant will have a passion for the arts, interest in helping under-resourced communities, and be both a collaborator and self-directed.This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a passionate team within a small yet influential arts education-focused nonprofit on a variety of initiatives to better serve youth during non-school hours. The Communications and Development Assistant will be responsible for the following:


•Contribute to the writing, editing, production and distribution of all print and online news and information publications, including monthly e-newsletter, media releases, fact sheets, clinical updates, calls to action, event communication, and other documents that describe LAMusArt’s initiatives, events and reports
•Work with the Development Manager to maintain and regularly audit LAMusArt website and media outlets
•Explore innovative ways to reach local East LA parents and families with our services
•Identify and coordinate online and in-person opportunities to engage community members, including special events and relevant observances
•Assist with parent-led grassroots campaign communications
•Assist in consumer research implementation and analysis
•Assist Executive Director in fielding media requests and proactively pitching stories to members of the media
•Assist with the maintenance of ongoing communications calendar of upcoming content
•Assist with the production and dissemination of print materials and collateral for education, campaigns, and administrative purposes

•Conduct research on individual, corporate and foundation prospects
•Assist Development Manager in drafting grant proposals and funder reports
•Support seasonal campaigns with list development, reporting, bulk-mail logistics, solicitation, contact tracking and analysis
•Update and maintain database records, including handling the import and maintenance of current mailing lists
•Assist with planning and executing special donor engagement, outreach strategies, and organization-wide events
•Support day-of duties for special events and annual signature fundraising event which includes overseeing registration and managing a team of volunteers

•Develop and maintain a roster of community partners•Enroll students and match them with our programs
•Assist with scheduling and monitoring rehearsal music room rentals
•Other tasks as assigned

Addl Info: Salary will commensurate with experience starting $31,200-$37,400 with paid holidays, sick days and monthly health stipend.
