Community Services Supervisor

The City of Irvine seeks an experienced, highly organized, and creative individual to serve as Fine Arts Supervisor for the Irvine Fine Arts Center. The Fine Arts Center is an 18,000 square foot art exhibition and education facility that was designed specifically for art exhibition and instruction. It is comprised of an art exhibition gallery and equipped art studios for drawing and painting, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry making, photography, printmaking and culinary arts. The Fine Arts Center is a heavily programmed facility that presents art exhibitions, arts classes, arts events, and youth camps and arts education up to 12 hours a day, six days a week.

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills who will enjoy the challenge of coordinating arts facility operations in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with substantial public usage. Knowledge and experience in operating a public facility is essential and working knowledge of art exhibitions, arts class programming, arts studio operations, special event management and youth programs is highly desired. The person must be a team leader who can supervise professional four full-time personnel and part-time staff to operate and program the facility. The Fine Arts Supervisor is responsible to produce a comprehensive arts program for all ages, to ensure that the Fine Arts Center is well-maintained and safe, and to make certain that all operations and programs are in compliance with City of Irvine policies and standards. 

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in art, art management, recreation, public administration, or a field related to assigned program area with four years of increasingly responsible experience in community program supervision/administration, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. The ability to possess or obtain First Aid and CPR certification within three months of employment is also required.

The purpose of positions in this classification is to supervise facilities and/or multiple program/service areas; direct, schedule, organize and coordinate a broad range of activities in assigned program areas such as recreation/athletics, fine arts, senior services, youth services, family services, and child care. The assignment for this position is fine arts.
