artworxLA combats the high school dropout rate by engaging students in a long-term sequential arts program that inspires them to stay in school, evolve as unique individuals, and flourish as creative adults. We bring arts education to over 1000 teenagers in 32 alternative education classrooms in LA County annually, providing them with ongoing workshops led by professional artists and opportunities to present their work in major cultural institutions.

Creative Pathways Program
Funded by the US Department of Labor through the Latino Coalition for Community Leadership, artworxLA serves justice-involved youth with creative career programming at the Education Corps–Pico-Union high school campus. Students build workforce readiness skills through classroom workshops alongside one-on-one case management and supportive services.

Data Specialist
Reporting to the Creative Pathways Manager, the Data Specialist inputs and tracks data through the Apricot Nonprofit Database software. A crucial part of the case management team, the Data Specialist provides updated reports on projections and outcomes for weekly strategy meetings.

Key responsibilities of the Data Specialist include:

  • Input data and generate reports using Apricot Nonprofit Database software.
  • Maintain files on outcomes, activities, and case management notes for all participants.
  • Verify electronic data with comparisons to source documents and make corrections according to database audits.
  • Segment data according to reporting needs and provide a weekly update to Creative Pathways Manager.
  • Relay messages between program participants, case managers, and school staff.

Qualified candidates will possess previous database experience, Apricot is a plus; familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; high-level attention to detail and confidentiality in managing participant files; good organization, time management, and communication skills. Successful candidates will be a part of a strong organizational team; be courteous and timely in correspondence with partners; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; add to the diverse backgrounds and experiences currently represented in the staff; and enjoy working for the benefit of young people.

Terms of Employment
Temporary independent contractor position for one year, 15 hours per week. Flexible schedule, candidate must be available at least two days per week. Ideal for a current college student or recent graduate.
